The Olympic Agenda 2020+5 recommendation 10 states that the Olympic Movement must strengthen the role of sport as an important enabler for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). SDG number 5 is to Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, and the AWBG is set to be another example to raise the flag of gender equality.

In the Bali2023 edition of the Games, the exact same number of male and female athletes are a reality in 13 out of 14 sports with the goal of reaching equality in all sports the next editions.
